Comments: NYT vs NOLA Cops: Who's Lying?

What do we expect? The mayor and chief both fell down on the job, and seem to think that trying to ignore it or lying about it takes care of the matter.

And with all the crap flying over this, particularly the video of people handcuffed, the lady being assaulted, etc., can you say 'CYA in a Major Way'?

If the NRA hasn't picked a city to hold its conference that was cancelled out of the GFW burg of Colombus in Ohio........then I nominate NEW ORLEANS.

Hard to figure out which group might be the bigger liars.....The NOLA crowd or the NYT...tough pick.

"Of course, this brings up a legal point (well, another one) since Louisiana's concealed-carry permit law only went into effect last year."

Louisiana became a shall issue state in 1996. Before that it was at the Sheriff's discretion and often quite easy to get a CCW permit in many areas. I received my first CCW permit in Louisiana in 1982.

Thanks -- I had been thinking of MO. I've updated the post to reflect that.

I lived in Louisiana back in the early 1990s and at least at that time it was one of those states where UN-concealed carry was the norm, i.e. you didn't even need a license so long as your firearm was clearly displayed. Of course various cities had laws against that, but most of the state didn't.

Comments close down on posts after seven days and then the comment input form disappears.

Your comments are welcome. You don't need to enter a URL and you don't need a "valid" email address, either. Note that MT Blacklist is installed to flag suspiciously spam-like strings. Unfortunately, because of the bastard spammers, the strings "google.com" and "yahoo.com" are currently banned as well. Another common bounce is any word containing the string "cialis" which means words such as socialism will be rejected. Try putting a hyphen into a word like that.
