What are the odds that it ends up in the hands of "Commander Dave Egeler of the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department?"
Posted by Zendo Deb at June 25, 2005 08:40 AMWhy should it "give you pause?" Some faux-moment of pseudo-ethical introspection, some white man's burden issues? Suppose your waitress were white and said, "Men taking land from men", or she was a dyke and said, "Straight men taking land from straight men"? It's only just a sitting-bullshit way of saying,
"I'm exempt from this because I'm a victim of these bad (choose a. straight b. white c. rich d. old e. whatever) men." Boo-hoo and mea culpa.Please.
Dear Jeff,
I hope you didn't tip this bitch. Her job is to serve food, not eavesdrop on your conversation and throw in her two cents. Especially not if it makes you uncomfortable. That's why it's food SERVICE. I'd go her one further and complain to the manager. There. Now a white guy took your land and your job, bitch! But whose fault is it really? The people who in many cases were seeking to escape persecution in their homeland? Or the people who were unable to adapt to a changing environment? What was that thing that Darwin came up with? About survival of...something, you get my point.
If you look at anyone's family history, you'll see that some bad shit happened to everyone. I happen to know a great deal of my family's history, especially bad shit that happened in the 20th century. If you wanna know, just ask.
Also, if aforementioned bitch lives anywhere, even remotely close to where her ancestors came from, were not talkin' 19th century, were talkin 16th century. Certainly no later than 18th century and that would be a huge stretch. So, the question is, how long does it take for someone to get over it? One Hundred years? Two Hundred? A Thousand?
We live in a culture that seems to think its okay for anyone and everyone to dwell on the most insignificant bad thing that may have happened to them at some point in their worthless lives. And if nothing bad has happened to them, it's also okay to dwell on something that happened to someone they know, or were related to but have never met, or someone they heard about, it goes on and on and on. Bullshit. Move on. Get over it. It's all part of being a survivor. At some point, you have to start living and not just reliving.
If this pathetic bitch would pull her head out of her ass for just one fuckin' second, she would realize that she too is a citizen of this fine nation and should be proud and grateful for that fact. Also, this nation isn't run by white men only anymore. Its run buy women and minorities who also get duly elected to public office and now, thanks to the Kelo Decision, will be more than happy to take her land as well as yours and mine.
This isn't about groups; it's about Americans and their rights. If she doesn't want to consider herself an American, than she doesn't have any fuckin' right to complain about what happens in this country. For that matter, she doesn't have any right to complain about what happened to a group of people whom she's never met and if they existed today as they did when the Whiteman "stole" this land, most likely wouldn't have anything to do with. Fuck this spoiled, self-centered, egotistical bitch and all of her ilk. I've never taken anybody's lands and I've never owned a slave and I'm fuckin' tired of these whiny moterfuckers actin' like it's someone else fault that they weren't born into a perfect world. Far as I can tell, no one ever has because the world cannot be perfect.
I hope the next time you see this bitch, you tell her to eat shit and die. We've all had it tough. It's called "Life". Tell her to go get one.
Jeff seems like someone with the grace and manners not to snap at such a clueless comment--it's absurd to fit everything into a race-issues frame. However, on the merits of Kelo, I'm unconvinced the text compels such a narrow reading of "public use" and -- as Justice Thomas concedes -- prior cases already authorized "private-to-private" takings.
