Dog Saves Owner

Meanwhile down under, From the Australian:

A DOG saved a Gold Coast man from his burning home by tugging his clothes to wake him, police said today.

A spokeswoman said the 43-year-old man was working at a table at his Sawrey Court home, in Mount Tamborine, when he fell asleep.

The man was woken by his dog at 9.45pm to find the paperwork on the table and part of the dining and lounge room on fire.

The man and the dog fled the house without injury, but the house was badly damaged.

If they ever invent a "time machine" the first thing I'd do is go back in time to find the first human ancestor who came up with the idea of taming and domesticating dogs. THAT'S the greatest idea of all history!

The book you want to read is Lost History of the Canine Race by Mary Elizabeth Thurston. She complains that much of the earliest data has been lost because archeologists took no interest in the significance of canine bones, but she does convey what is known very well.

I met a young woman once who had been awakened by a puppy she had adopted six weeks earlier, moments before the fire in the apartment above her caused her ceiling to collapse. Such incidents, altho rare, are not unusual.

It is about time some dogs saved their owners. It doesn't make up for all the dogs that maul little kids, but at least they are useful for something.

Hey Chuck, what the hell is your problem? Dogs "mauling kids" is a pretty rare occurance and is usually, not always, but usually caused by something the kid (granted unwittingly) did to the dog.

Dogs have been loyal friends of humans for thousands of years. Take your sick, bitter attitude someplace else.
